A visit
Omkoi Baan tungroi elementary school,Pharasing village

Relief supplies and a donation
I contribute broadcast facilities (a loud speaker, a microphone, an amplifier), a chair of hairdressing, a hair clipper and old clothes to a Omkoi Baan tungroi elementary school. (2005/03)
A volunteer corps of Chan Mai brings in old materials and makes a desk and a chair at the actual place and donates a pump to Pharasing village. (2005/2/6)
In March, I contributed broadcast facilities (a loud speaker, a microphone, an amplifier), a chair of hairdressing, a set such as a hair clipper and old clothes to a Baan tungroi elementary school of Omkoi.
The reason is because it becomes future vocational training of children that the school side hoped for a hairdressing set.
Even if children become an adult and work in a town, they cannot find work. In addition, going out to a town in itself is very difficult.
Even if it is found work, they must work with severe working conditions of manual labor by a cheap wage.
Technology of hairdressing is useful for life and an occupation on hygiene side of children in a school only not being useful.

Now, in Pharasing village, children study on a desk with a roof with a teacher of soldier of a border garrison.
This Pharasing village does not have an official school, and there is not a teacher, too. Because they do not do Thai resident registration, a villager cannot go to a town without nationality freely. In addition, this village faces danger such as smuggling of a drug from Myanmar.
Besides girls of this minority race have sad humiliating old manners and customs of "MIDA".

Life of soldiers of a border garrison is not rich at all, too.
But soldiers have a dream in the future of these children and teach study in uncrowded time and divide food.
Children go to school to rely on the food which soldier distributes. They cannot eat in a house.
Soldiers feel education to children with a very important thing in the future of a Thai state and make an effort for troubled children.
I talked together and felt passion.
In this village, girl "Narda" of 8 years old studies with children of a village.
They want to let this "Narda" go to school of a town somehow. She does not need to become "MIDA" if she does so it.
However, "Narda" does not have Thai nationality same as people of a village. In addition, She have aspects of expense to take education many problems.
It is only to pray for that "Narda" can take education in a town that it is possible for me.
After an interview with captains of Mai Ai and Maesariang, A captain stuck out its chest and said to me that "the Thai armed forces did anything for the king".

Getting back to the subject
In this village, there were sad stories of a young woman of "MIDA".

"MIDA" is two beautiful young women chosen for men.
A young woman chosen as "MIDA" for a festival in a village of a specific day must have relation with plural men if demanded regardless of their will. There seems to have been what it was unpleasant, and the young woman who ran away was returned to a village, and was killed in old days.
Now a local soldier seems to prohibit it, but a lower photograph is a photograph reproducing a dance at that time.@
